Long Before the Dawn of the Modern World
Centuries before the United States was born, a secluded river town in southern China called Jingdezhen had already mastered the divine alchemy of earth and fire. Born in the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), this craft reached the imperial zenith in 1004 AD, when Emperor Zhenzong was so enchanted by its pure white porcelain that he bestowed his own royal reign title—Jingde—upon the town, sanctifying it as the supreme Imperial Kiln.
From that historic decree, Jingdezhen porcelain stood peerless with sovereign authority. It was the exclusive tribute of the Emperor—the ultimate symbol of status, power, and connoisseurship. Commoners were forbidden from possessing it. Even then, a single authentic piece was fiercely coveted across empires.
In China, Jingdezhen is revered as the Thousand-Year Porcelain Capital, the undisputed global summit of ceramic art. Across civilizations, the English word China carries dual reverence: the nation, and porcelain. Jingdezhen is the pulsing heart of that Porcelain Kingdom. Since the 13th century, its celestial wares traveled the overland Silk Road and maritime trade routes to Persia, Arabia, and the royal courts of Europe, where a single chest of imperial porcelain was readily bartered for its equal weight in pure gold.
For over one thousand uninterrupted years, these sacred kiln fires have never once gone cold.

In our guild workshops, a masterpiece is never merely manufactured—it is contested against destiny. Dozens of artisan hands, over one hundred disciplined classical rituals, and blistering kiln heat exceeding 1320°C (2408°F). Yet triumph or ruin is decreed in the single, unyielding moment when the kiln door unseals.
The Chinese call this Yaobian (窑变)—the kiln possesses its own sacred will. One color enters; ten thousand emerge. Ancient masters held that the Kiln Gods, not mortal hands, roll the cosmic dice to settle the final soul of each vessel.
